Delete your amos account
This page explains how to delete your account in amos, published by Amos Live, Inc., and exactly what happens to your data when you do.
How to delete your account
- Open the amos app.
- Tap the Profile tab.
- Scroll to the bottom and tap Delete account.
- Confirm when prompted.
Deletion happens immediately. It cannot be undone, and we cannot restore an account once it has been deleted.
If you can't get into the app
Email [email protected] from the email address on your account and ask us to delete it. We'll confirm your identity and complete the deletion for you, normally within 24 hours.
What is deleted
Deleting your account permanently removes:
- your profile — name, birthdate, age, gender, sexuality, bio, Vibe and Dynamics
- every photo you uploaded
- your check-ins and any location data associated with them
- your connections and everyone you've connected with
- your messages, in every conversation
- your device and push-notification tokens
- your account record itself, including the Google or Apple identifier used to sign in
What is kept, and for how long
We retain a small amount of information after deletion, and only where we are required to or where deleting it would defeat a safety protection:
- Anonymous usage statistics — kept indefinitely. These record only that an account of a certain age and platform was deleted. They contain no name, no email, no account identifier, and cannot be linked back to you.
- The identifier from the Google or Apple account you signed in with, on its own, so that a banned account cannot return by deleting and re-registering, and so free connects can't be farmed by repeatedly deleting an account. It is not linked to your profile, photos, messages or location, all of which are gone.
- Photo-moderation records, where a photo was rejected by our review system. These are kept for safety and legal compliance.
- Records the law requires us to keep, including any report made to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children. Subscription and payment records are held by Apple or Google, not by us.
Reports and blocks involving your account are deleted along with it.
Cancel amos+ first
Deleting your account does not cancel an amos+ subscription — those are billed by the app store, not by us. Cancel it in Google Play > Subscriptions (Android) or Settings > your name > Subscriptions (iPhone) before deleting, or it will keep renewing.
Deleting only some of your data
You don't have to delete your whole account. In the app you can remove individual photos, unsend messages, unmatch a connection, or hide yourself from the map entirely. For anything else, email [email protected].
