Privacy policy
Last updated: July 2026
This policy explains what amos (operated by Shiver LLC, a Wyoming limited liability company — "amos," "we," "us") collects, how it's used, and the rights and control you have over it. The short version: we collect what the app needs to work, we never sell your data, and you can delete everything at any time.
1. Information we collect
- Account & profile: when you sign in with Apple we receive your Apple account identifier (and email, if you share it). You provide your name, birthday, gender, sexuality, photos, social media handles, interests, and what you're open to.
- Location: your location is captured when you check in and is used to place you on the map and show you people nearby. Other users only ever see a position blurred by roughly 120 meters — never your exact coordinates. We do not track your location in the background; it is read when you use the app.
- Messages & activity: messages you send, connections you make, and basic activity such as when you last used the app (which powers the "active" indicator).
- Device & technical: a push-notification token if you allow notifications, and standard technical data (such as device type and app version) needed to run and secure the service.
- Purchases: subscription status via Apple and RevenueCat. We never see or store your payment card details.
2. How we use information
To operate amos: showing you on the map, matching your audience settings, delivering messages and notifications, processing amos+ subscriptions, responding to support requests, enforcing our Terms & content policy (including reviewing reports of abuse), preventing fraud and spam, and keeping the service safe and working. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for third-party advertising.
3. What other users see
Other users see your profile (photos, name, age, gender, sexuality, interests, what you're open to) and your blurred map position while you're visible. Your social handles are hidden until you connect with someone. Your audience settings control who can discover you at all, and you can hide from the map entirely with amos+.
4. When we share information
- Service providers: Supabase (database & authentication), Mapbox (map tiles), Apple (sign-in, push notifications, payments), and RevenueCat (subscription management). Each receives only what it needs to perform its function.
- Legal & safety: we may disclose information if required by law, subpoena, or court order, or where we believe in good faith it is necessary to prevent harm, investigate abuse, or protect the rights and safety of users or the public.
- Business transfers: if amos is involved in a merger, acquisition, or asset sale, user information may be transferred as part of that transaction; this policy would continue to apply.
- We do not sell or rent your personal information to anyone.
5. Data retention & deletion
Your data is kept while your account exists. Deleting your account (Profile tab → Delete account) permanently removes your profile, photos, check-ins, messages, and connections. We may retain minimal records where required for safety (for example, abuse reports and blocks), for legal compliance, or to prevent banned users from returning.
6. Your rights & choices
- Access, correction, deletion: you can view and edit your profile in the app, and delete your account at any time. You may also email us to request a copy of your data, corrections, or deletion.
- Push notifications: controlled in iOS Settings at any time.
- Location: controlled in iOS Settings; note the app requires location to function.
- Visibility: audience settings limit who can discover you.
7. California privacy rights
If you are a California resident, the CCPA/CPRA gives you the right to know the categories of personal information we collect (identifiers, profile characteristics, geolocation, audiovisual content, and commercial information — as described in Section 1), the right to access and delete that information, the right to correct inaccurate information, and the right not to be discriminated against for exercising these rights. We do not sell or share personal information as defined by the CCPA/CPRA, and we do not use or disclose sensitive personal information for purposes requiring a right to limit. To exercise any right, email [email protected]; we will verify your request via your account email.
8. Children
amos is strictly for adults 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If we learn that a user is under 18, we terminate the account and delete its data. If you believe a minor is using the service, report it to [email protected].
9. Security
Data is encrypted in transit, database access is restricted through row-level security, and exact locations are never exposed to other users. No system is perfectly secure; if we learn of a breach affecting your personal information, we will notify you as required by applicable law.
10. International users
amos is operated from the United States and information is processed on servers in the United States. By using the service you consent to the transfer and processing of your information in the United States.
11. Third-party services
Profiles link to third-party social platforms (Instagram, TikTok, Snapchat). Once you leave amos, those platforms' own privacy policies apply. We are not responsible for their practices.
12. Do Not Track
We do not track users across third-party websites or services, so we do not respond to "Do Not Track" signals.
13. Changes & contact
If this policy changes materially, we'll tell you in the app and update the date above. Questions or requests (including access and deletion) — email [email protected]. We respond within 24 hours.
